About Me

How It All Began. . .

'Eyes of Texas Dolls' was created in early 2015 and being a doll artist is my passion. It had always been my dream to create dolls and I am fortunate in that I am finally able to follow my dream. I was located in the heart of Texas when I initially started creating my collectible dolls but I now live in Manchester, Connecticut. I truly feel like I am back home as I was born and raised in CT. It has been a very welcome change for me.

Each OOAK doll has hand-painted eyes that truly makes each doll unique and gives each their own distinct personality. Living in Texas for most of my life, it made sense to name the dolls with a Texan theme. As I like to say "it’s all in the eyes". No doubt about it, my favorite part is painting each doll's eyes. For many years I have admired the work of the late world famous doll artist, Dianna Effner. I have had the pleasure of chatting with Dianna during a phone conversation in the past, and she is such a wonderful and talented individual.

Ever since I was a child, I have loved to dabble in both artistic and crafty endeavors and have always dreamed of doll making. This doll-making endeavor recently became possible with the ability to use doll molds from Dianna. Each doll is made entirely from porcelain and is hand finished. No two ever turn out exactly the same.

I get to put my sewing skills to use by creating doll dresses and embellishments for these dolls.

For six years in a row I have won the prestigious DOLLS Award of Excellence in the Doll Repaint category as well as the Doll Fashion category. I love creating and my favorite part is embellishing each costume. It has been so enjoyable learning the process as I am pretty much self-taught. Through trial and error, I have developed a process that seems to work. And as time goes on, I am able to hone my skills which is very satisfying to me.

At this point in time, I have now hand-crafted more than 800 Eyes of Texas Dolls and that amazes me. It truly does not seem possible. (And I am always working on new dolls. . . )

Please stay tuned for my new introductions and thank you so much for your support!
