★★★★★Handcrafted Eyes of Texas Dolls Bye-Lo Baby Doll #3 | Created from a Grace S. Putnam Mold

$125.00
sold out

This 5-inch full porcelain Bye-Lo baby doll is a reproduction of an original created by Grace Storey Putnam, famous doll designer, back in 1922. She modeled the doll’s head after a 3-day old sleeping baby that she saw at a Los Angeles Salvation Army hospital nursery, and this was the first doll ever to look like an actual infant. This beautiful baby had her legs spread froggy style and when Grace sketched and made a wax model she was sure to include this feature. This doll artist patented her Bye-Lo baby doll and was manufactured by several German doll companies. This baby doll did so well on the market that Grace produced several sizes and it became known as “The Million Dollar Baby”.

This baby doll’s outfit was created from a 1940’s Bye-Lo vintage pattern. She wears a christening gown and bonnet made from fine white batiste fabric and both her gown and bonnet are embellished with lace.

I am pleased to announce that I have been the winner of the DOLLS Magazine Award of Excellence (DAE) in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, as well as 2021.

Not suitable for children under 14 years of age as this doll is intended to be a collectible doll.
